Create28 ~ Summer Skirts

I LOVE skirts. But for some reason, skirts don't typically end up in my closet. I confessed in this post that I had never owned a pencil skirt before!!! Because my lifestyle is so casual (3 young kids), I think I tend to shy away from skirts because I feel like they are "too dressy." However, last year I purchased this cargo-type skirt at Loft and I really love it! It totally fits my casual lifestyle and is a great alternative to shorts in the spring and summer.

Ways to Wear a Summer Skirt

I can just throw on this skirt with a  casual tee and sandals and I am just as comfortable in it as I would be in shorts or jeans. Plus, it has pockets so that's always a HUGE plus!! If you're looking for a casual skirt, here are some great options:

Once in awhile though, I am glad I have my pencil skirt for more dressy occasions. But you know me, I can never go toooooo dressy! In this post, I dressed down my pencil skirt with a denim vest  and casual wedges ~

Ways to Wear a Summer Skirt
Here I dressed down the same skirt with a simple graphic tee....but I did add heels and bling, though...FANCY, right??!!!

Create28 ~ The Graphic Tee

Welcome my Style Sister Whitney to the blog today! Here's her take on graphic tees!!!

Welcome back for Day 2 of Create28: Lovely Summer Looks!  Today it's my turn to show you one of my favorite ways to style a graphic tee!

Graphic tees are a great way to express your personality or interests (like my love for Hop Cat in East Lansing) through your clothing.  On top of that, there are so many ways to style a graphic tee.  You can wear one simply with a pair of skinny jeans or boyfriend shorts.  For a little bit of interest, you can add a vest or cardigan.  If you want a more glamorous look, add a sparkly necklace and a pair of heels!

I really like to create a feminine look by wearing a graphic tee with a skirt.  However, when I was putting this outfit together, I felt like I had exhausted all of my skirt pairings.  Where did I look next?  To my dresses!  If you aren't feeling excited about your skirts, try layering a shirt over dress to create a faux-skirt look!  When I wore this outfit to a get-together with friends, a girlfriend of mine complimented me on my skirt...so I think I pulled this one off!

Outfit Formula 4: Kimono + Tank + Denim Shorts
I'm not giving up finding a kimono!! Still looking because I think the trend is darling--i just can't find one that looks right on me. In the meantime, I pulled this long cardigan/shrug thing out of my closet. I usually only wear it in the fall/spring, but now I know I can wear it with shorts!! Yay!

Outfit Formula 6: Chambray Shirt + White Shorts + Sneakers
I chose to wear my white sandals instead of sneakers because I decided I really need to invest in a bright pair of Converse! I'm thinking pink, red or teal...any other suggestions??

Part of this Challenge is also trying new things with your hair. Soooo....I watched like 3,000 bun/top knot/messy bun tutorials! It looked sooo easy but once I had to do it on myself it was a mess!! This was my first attempt--I'll keep trying!!!

Outfit Formula 7: Maxi/Summer Dress + Denim Vest + Sandals
I feel like I have been wearing my long printed maxi dress to death, so I opted for this short little jersey dress I found on the Target clearance rack for $8! It think it works!

Whatever they are called--I hopped on the Palazzo/Track/Soft pants trend a few months ago and I've never looked back. I LOVE them--totally feels like PJs, yet looks pulled together and not super frumpy. Nothing is more comfy than this outfit!!! You have to shop and be patient for the ones you like, but once you find them, you'll love them!
