Fall Transition + LINK UP

Happy Monday, pretties!!! As usual, Carrie, Whitney and I are hosting A Lovely Little à La Mode Link Up today, so if you're a blogger, please join us! Fall is around the corner, Pumpkin Spice is in the air and I may or may not have busted out my boots in 68 degree weather the other day! I know here in Northern California we'll get more days of shorts and tanks, but fall will definitely be upon us before we know it!

Today I have two simple "Fall Transition" outfits for you. In true "Casey" style, they are super casual and easy to wear!

1.  Shorts + Plaid ~ If you know me, you KNOW I love me some denim shorts!!! You also know I love my Converse! So how do I make this "fallish??" ADD PLAID! Done! I love this plaid shirt not only because it's the perfect weight, but look at the sleeve cuffs...buffalo plaid!!! Sold!

Plaid Shirt: Target (exact, option)
Denim Shorts: J Crew Factory (exact)
White Tee: J Crew Factory (exact)
Converse: exact
Necklace: Stella and Dot (exact, in gold)

2. Jeans + Tank + Fall Scarf ~ Another transition fave of mine is a tank and scarf. You're looking at my new favorite jeans for fall that I showed you in my Express Model vs. Me post HERE! Sooo darn comfy, perfect stretch and I would say perfect for anyone who thinks "flares" are too much! These "Barely Boot" cuts give the same look, but without a lot of flare to deal with. Another great thing is that I can wear these babies with flats and not look 4 feet tall!!

I have a very easy Fall Transition formula: Mix a summer/warm weather item with a fall/cool weather item. In Outfit 1, I mixed plaid (fall item) with shorts (summer item). In Outfit 2, I mixed a tank (summer item) with a scarf and jeans (fall items). Check out some of these other ways to mix and match ~

Create28 Summer Looks ~ Casey's Recap

Well, my beautiful friends, July has just flown by and Create28 ~ Lovely Summer Looks is coming to a close. I have to tell you all that I had SUCH a blast teaming up with Carrie and Whitney for this little challenge! We had such a great time and we were so inspired by all of your looks on your blogs and #Create28SummerLooks!

Here are the looks I created during the month of July ~

Create28 ~ A Summer Trend

I'm going to admit it right now...as far as my generation goes, I'm what you could call a "late adopter." I still have an iPhone 5'ish (the old one), don't own a Blue Ray and I am quite certain I was the last of my friends to start texting. I am no different when it comes to clothing. I shy away from anything too edgy or too trendy. I tend to prefer classic pieces that I can wear over and over for years to come.

So when a kimono was on the Summer Style Challenge list last month, I really didn't have any true motivation to try it. But just like with texting....one day I tried it. And I loved it. And now I'm hooked!!! (don't ever call me, by the way, just TEXT!)

Create28 ~ 4 Easy Ways to Wear a Summer Scarf

Hello, FRIDAY!!!

Fall and scarves go hand in hand. I always look forward to breaking out my scarf, ahem.....collection come Fall. Let's just say I have a few scarves....let's just say I may have a slight scarf, problem :) Scarves are just such an EASY way to add color and life into an outfit. Not to mention, they are functional so you know I'm all over easy and functional :)

However, in the summertime, you might not always think to reach for a scarf. I get it. When it's 100+ degrees out, any type of clothing besides a swimsuit on your body is enough to make you sweat--especially anything around your NECK! But on warm days, it is possible to wear scarves without overheating. Here are a few ways to make scarves work in the summer ~

1. The Jersey Scarf ~ Small and lightweight, this scarf is almost like a glorified necklace! It's just the right size to add color to an outfit, without being too close to your neck . The jersey material is cool and won't make your overheat. This scarf is a 27 inch infinity loop and measures 26 inches wide., so it's pretty small. Look for similar dimensions if you are buying a scarf online.

2. The Necklace Tie ~ When you have a bigger scarf and you want to keep it away from your neck, you can "twist tie" it up using the method below. It becomes almost like an infinity scarf and a cute little "necklace." :) The "twist tying" keeps it away from your neck. This scarf measures 72 inches long and 26 inches wide.

The Necklace Tie Method (Twist Tie)

~ Start with the ends of the scarf evenly down your back.

 ~ Bring the ends forward, to the front of your body

~ Starting on one side, wrap the loose end of the scarf around the loop that's formed. Keep wrapping until you get near the end of the scarf. 

~ Repeat on the other side. Adjust as necessary. You should end up with both sides twisted and away from your neck. I like to leave a little out and let it hang a bit.

3. As a Belt ~ What a fun way to add a little something different to a boring jeans/tee outfit! And nothing near your neck! Score!

4. On the Bag ~ If all else fails, a pretty scarf always looks nice tied to your purse or bag!

If you are really awesome, you can use scarves in your hair in the summer, too! I'm not that advanced yet, but I'm trying :) I will keep you posted, but don't hold your breath waiting for any scarf-hair-tying tutorials! HA! Stop by tomorrow when Carrie will show off her awesome summer statement necklaces!
