Simple changes can make a big impact on your wardrobe, too! When an outfit isn't quite working or feels "off," I always try a couple of things before I rule it out ~ Tie (or) Tuck (and/or) Add an Accessory. It can really take an Awkward outfit to Awesome :)
Exhibit A ~ So the first pic, my shirt looks a bit sloppy and ill-fitting. It's also thin, so the black and white stripes from my shorts show through my shirt....can't stand it when that happens!! In the "Awesome" pic (HA!), all I did was tie my shirt, which automatically made it more fitted and elongated my body...I'm 5'4" so I'll really take WHATEVER I can get! I also added a simple necklace to just give the outfit a bit more polish. That's it. Simple.
Pink Gingham: J. Crew (similar, similar)
Striped Shorts: Similar, Similar
Exhibit B ~ These floral shorts you've seen before, and my Barcelona camis are probably the most worn items in my closet right now! However, the untucked cami looks awkward with these shorts. Do you see how the cami hits right at the WIDEST part of my body? Helllloooo....don't ever let an item of clothing hit you at the Wide Parts, ladies! #justsayin.
This fix was SO simple! All I did was take a tiny bit of the front of my cami, and loosely tucked it into the front of my shorts. I kinda bloused the rest of the cami out and didn't even have to bother to tuck it. To me, this makes a BIG difference! My waist is more defined and nothing is awkwardly hitting my WP's (Wide Parts). I added a necklace just to make it a little more polished.
Barcelona Cami: Express-they are sold out of pink (similar, similar--super cute print!)
Floral Shorts: Old Navy (option, option)
Have you all made any simple changes in your life (or in your outfits!) that you felt made a big impact??

I have seen so many bloggers style the Barcelona cami and I love them! I think I may have to pick a couple up! Will they be good for layering in the fall too? Susan
ReplyDeleteSusan, they will be PERFECT for fall!! If I ever find a blazer I love, I will do a blazer with jeans and a barcelona. They also layer great with cardis! They are also reversible :) XOXO
DeleteSO cute & so helpful!! I often tuck, but have never tied! I need to remember that :)

I know, right?!! :) Thanks for stopping by, sweet Darci! XO
DeleteYes! That cami is perfect, I just really hate wearing strapless bras, I always feel like I"m tugging on it all day, so I avoid them like the plague! TMI...probably, haha.
ReplyDeleteI think you just haven't found the right one, girl!! I used to be the same way and I finally got a "good" one and it doesn't even bother me!! XOXO
DeleteThis is a great post! So frequently I see cute outfits but with the shirt untucked. I just want to run over and tuck in the shirt of whoever is wearing that outfit. It helps so much!
ReplyDeleteYou so SO the fashion police! Totally do it! LOL! :) XO
DeleteThis post is genius!! Crazy how big of a difference tucking or untucking can make. This was a fun post :)

ReplyDeleteI love the thoughts you shared at the start of this post. I guess I should try waking up an hour early - it makes mornings more fun rather than waking up startled and having to catch a few things. Love your looks too!!

Thanks!! You should totally try the extra hour.. give it a good week or two. It's hard at first but SOO worth it! XOXO
DeleteLove this post Casey! Great idea for simple changes. I too wake up earlier to enjoy my coffee and devotions. I suppose I should add working out.....I'm sure it would be good for me!

Great post! And love the pictures to actually visualize it! Would love to hear more about your morning routine. I've been thinking about getting up earlier to do the very things you mentioned- workout & have quiet time. Please think about sharing more details about what you do & how it's worked for you. Love your blog so much!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! It's funny, I am working on a post now about morning routines and what to do with an extra hour! Stay tuned, girl! XOXO
DeleteThese are such great tips--it's amazing what a few small changes can do for a look. Love both of these! I wish I had more time in the morning, but I don't think I'm willing to get up at 4:30 to give myself and extra hour... that still seems like night time to me!
ReplyDeleteI love how you styled both outfits. I don't know why but I alway forget to take care of those little details before shoot my pictures!
