Tennis Anyone?

Today was Brookey's very first tennis lesson! Out of all the "lessons" and classes she's taken so far (gymnastics, swimming, ballet, soccer), this was definitely the one she enjoyed the most. It might also have something to do with her being older and really able to get more out of organized classes. At any rate, she hit the ball on her first try (with the SIDE of her racket, but whatever)! She's not the most...uh....coordinated person on earth--gets that from me--so I was happy she made any contact with the ball at all! The coach is awesome--very patient. Brookey is one of the youngest in the class, but shes hanging in there!

First Trip to the Dentist!

I was dreading this day for the past 3 years! I think you are supposed to take your kid as soon as they have any teeth but I'm a bad mom and waited 3 years. Oh well! :-) Brookey did AWESOME! No cavities!!

A New Blog is Born!

Originally when I redesigned this blog, I intended to begin writing some "parenting commentary" posts. However, given that some people who read this blog just want to see pictures and get updates on the rascals and could care less about reading parenting commentary, I decided to separate the two.

So if parenting issues interest you at all or if you just want to read about my successes and (many!) failures as a parent, check out my new blog: Educated, Common Sense Parenting. Enjoy!

3 Month Appointment

Will had a quick "weight check" appointment today to see if he's gaining any weight--HA! Our beefy man gained about 3 lbs since his last appointment and is now 13 lbs, 2 oz. Still in the 50th percentile. He also had one shot which he groaned about but didn't cry. I gave him some Tylenol and now he's down for the count.

I'm Ready for the Lake!!

One week from today, I'll be on my first airplane trip to see all of Daddy's family!! I'm so excited to meet everyone! Hopefully the weather will be good so I can get some sun--this Irish boy needs a tan! :-)

6th Anniversary Getaway

We celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary this weekend with a quick getaway to Cavallo Point Lodge in Sausalito--only about 45 minutes away! It was our first overnight trip without both little rascals, which was sad but much needed!!

We started the day with breakfast at the Dipsea Cafe in Mill Valley and then walked around downtown Mill Valley. We stopped at Tyler Florence's store and bought Brookey some Popsicle molds :-) Then we drove allllll the way to the top of Mt. Tam where we saw amazing views of Stinson Beach, four bridges and of course San Francisco. We couldn't believe how great the weather was considering they had been threatening rain all week.

After that, we checked into the hotel. It was AWESOME. It sits right at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge with panoramic views of San Francisco. Scott and I just sat out on the deck with wine and couldn't believe the awesome view--and the cloudless sky! It's located at Fort Baker, and old Army base and all the rooms are historic, converted officer's quarters. They apparently have a top notch spa that has been written up in several magazines, but unfortunately, by the time we checked in, there just wasn't time to enjoy it. Next time!!!!

We topped off the night with a four course Chef's tasting menu at the restaurant, Murray Circle which was about a 30 second walk from our room. Awesome food, awesome wine, perfect weather. We cannot wait to go back!!! We would both HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Cavallo Point to anyone. It's definitely one of the most unique places we have ever stayed.

My First Roll!!

No, he hasn't rolled OVER yet, but he has his first fat roll!! This kid has really porked out, I am telling you! Considering less than 3 months ago he was literally 5 pounds of skin and bones, he's a MAJOR porker now!! Brookey is getting frustrated because she can hardly hold this massive sack of potatoes!
